In a special collaboration with Deep Purple, Revox has redesigned twenty-five (25) exceptional B77 MK III tape recorders to feature the unique Deep Purple look, both visually and in terms of feel. Each unit is autographed by the band members — Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride.

The collaboration was established to experience Deep Purple’s music in the same exceptional quality as it was originally recorded by the musicians in the studio, using Revox’s high-quality audio products which deliver authentic studio sound quality at home.

The design of the limited-edition products, including the accompanying special audio reels, harmonizes perfectly with the outstanding visual design of the forthcoming album SPLAT! (out July 3rd, 2026).

As an additional feature exclusive to this edition, the mechanical braking system is equipped with an electronic braking function. The mechanical and electronic brakes work together to provide even better and more precise control and stopping at the desired point with low latency. In the event of electronic failure or a sudden power outage, the system will always brake safely — your valuable recordings are optimally protected.

The Perfect Interplay

The B77 MK III and the new Revox Analog Master Tapes Collection are both manufactured in the Revox KLANGWERK in Villingen for perfect interplay — a significant step for the analog community.

Special Capstan Shaft and New Pressure Roller

Seventeen steps are required to manufacture the high-precision capstan shaft. Swiss Steel produced five tons of very special steel specifically for its manufacture — 17 work steps in production alone.

Together with the new pressure roller, made of light-colored rubber and guided by two ball bearings, the capstan shaft moves the belt with significantly improved stability and precision compared to conventional bearings.

Improved Original Revox Tape Heads

Revox tape machines have a total of three tape heads: one reproducing head, one recording head, and one erase head — a design that enables rear band control. The gap of the playback sound head measures just 2 µm (0.002 mm).

The core packages are made of high-quality magnetic material with above-average permeability and minimal losses, achieving optimum sound voltages and very low distortion. Compared to the B77 MK II, the B77 MK III uses improved tape heads with a significantly longer service life.

Connections

XLR (External Live Return) connectors are characterized by their robustness, reliability, and interference-free signal transmission. The balanced XLR connection ensures the best sound and high-quality transmission — in professional recording studios as well as in private audio systems. Signals can be transmitted via XLR inputs/outputs without loss of quality or noise.

The connection concept is suitable for both recording studio connections and private home systems, with a switch for toggling between the two. The headphone amplifier is of the highest quality and suitable for both low and high headphone impedances.

Digital Counter and VU Meter

The digital counter offers two modes: Mode 1 is a standard counter; Mode 2 displays time, calculated from the current meter reading and the set belt speed of 19 cm/s or 38 cm/s.

Revox VU meters are precisely calibrated for maximum precision. When the LED flashes during recording and playback, the optimum level has been reached. If the LED lights up continuously, this indicates overmodulation — making it easy to achieve recordings with maximum dynamics. The indicator also works during playback.

Optional Expansion

A Revox Interface Multiuser 3.0 B77 is available for the integration and control of the B77 MK III, even via app or wall operation, in a Revox multiuser audio solution.
